PEDIATRIC FIRST AID CPR AED CLASS AGENDA

1. Before Giving Care: You will learn to recognize a medical emergency and to know when to call 911 and when it is not necessary.
2. Assessment: Checking a conscious person for injuries. Gathering relevant medical information from a victim.
3. Choking: You will learn to use abdominal thrusts (also known as the Heimlich Maneuver) and back blows to help someone who is choking. You will also learn to respond if someone is choking and becomes unconscious.
4. CPR: You will learn to do CPR using Prestan feedback manikins. Lights indicate if a student is pushing deep enough and pushing at the correct space to deliver quality CPR. Covers CPR for adults, children and infants.
5. AED: Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are an important component of performing CPR — AEDs deliver a shock to help the heart to beat normally again and are now designed for the public to use. Our AED trainers are just like real AEDs — you will listen as the AED talks you through attaching pads to the CPR manikin, analyzing for a shockable heart rhythm and delivering a simulated shock.
6. Sudden Illness: Recognizing and respond to shock, heart attack, asthma, anaphylaxis (allergic reaction), using an EpiPen, diabetic emergencies, seizures, fainting and stroke.
7. Injuries: Bleeding, using a tourniquet, burns, muscle, bone and joint injuries, head, neck and spinal injuries.
8. Environmental Emergencies: heat and cold-related emergencies, poisoning, bites and stings.

WHO NEEDS A PEDIATRIC FIRST AID CPR AED CERTIFICATION?
This is the EMSA’s required certification course for licensed daycare and preschool teachers.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATION CARD?
We can immediately award your certification at the end of your class because American Heart Association First Aid CPR AED student certifications are accessible on their website. Certifications can be printed on paper, but can also be downloaded as PDF files, making them easy to email or text.  You can always access your certification by saving it to your email or phone.

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR MY CLASS?
Our instructor has been in the medical field for 20+ years and is very compliant with all safety precautions. We require students to wear a mask throughout their class with us. All of our training equipment is disinfected before classes and can be cleaned at any time during a class. If you have an outside space, let’s use it! Feel free to talk to us about additional safety precautions.

HOW DO I PAY FOR A CLASS?
We are flexible on how you pay for your class: check, cash, credit card or an invoice.
